Create Page by mail

First of all - happy new year guys!! ;-)

It would be great to have a feature where users can sent an email to a specified adress such as createpage@mywiki.com. the subject of the email would be the title for a new (automatically) created subpage in a predefined page and the body of the mail would be de content of this new page!

In example wordpress is using a similary feature called "blog by mail".

To have this feature in deki wiki would absolutly great!!:D

I agree, this would be great. It might be easy to implement if the Wiki could check a POP account for the emails to make the page from.

We have a newsletter sent to our company daily. We get between 5 and 20 messages per day. It's time-sensitive info, and since it's going to about 30 people at our company, those emails alone are contributing to inbox bloat.

Having them on the WIKI with RSS feeds notifying users of new info would be a godsend. And, the info would be searchable, tagable etc.

It would be nice if it could be configured to create a page at a specific location based on who it's from.

hi guys...

because there is no such feature in dekiwiki i wrote my own "add on".

It's just a litte Script that checks for new mails on a POP3-Account. If there are new messages, they will be downloaded, stored in a database and then uploaded via the API to DekiWiki.
For each message a new Page will be created. (They are all stored under a predefined Page with "private"-rights.)

After uploading, the original sender of the message will be informed that his mail was successfully uploaded and that an admin will first review his message and then publish it.

Also the admin will be informed that a new wiki-site was created an he has to check and publish the site.

There are still some little "bugs" but it works fine for me...

Once you have it described and the files attached, let us know and we'll find a proper location for it.
