Is there actually any documenation availible for the Hayes version of Diki? The only thing I can find is the 'User Manual' which is semi-useful but appears to be written for a different version since it has menu's that don't seem to exist.
I am looking for just basic information like how user groups work. I try to create a group and it wants me to add a service. The service section seems to be populated with some information but I really don't know what 1/2 of them are and I have no idea what a SID is or any of the other information it wants
Is there anything out there to give me a general frame of referance on configuring the options as an admin?

Service related information can be found under "Deki Wiki API":
Otherwise, we're in the process of cleaning-up the the documentation at:
As we update the pages, we'll be adding tags such as 'hayes' and 'gooseberry' where appropriate. This should make it easier in the future as well.

My problem is administrative and possibly conceptual, not technical. To explain: I want to make a group called GUYS and put BOB and TOM in the GUYS group. I then want to give GUYS access to a special section of the Wiki. First problem, I am assuming I can do this.
Second Problem, When I create the group there is a pull down menu to select a service (this is blank). There is a list of services below and it won't allow me to create a group without adding a service. When I try and add a service it ask for information like an SID. The last time I messed with this the Wiki went down and I had to do a fresh install. I have no idea what an SID is.
So I am stuck at this point
I am not entirely sure groups work the way I think they do
I don't know what the services do so I don't know what I should select for the group.
I have no idea what information services wants, SID, etc. so I can't 'add' one.
I am now afraid to play with it.
See where I am going? It's just basic confusion.

Groups are only available with external authentication services. We support a few including LDAP, Drupal, Wordpress, and Joomla (see http://wiki.opengarden.org/Deki_Wiki_API#Authentication_Services for a list of authentication services). See http://wiki.opengarden.org/Deki_Wiki/Features/LDAP_Support for instructions on how to setup LDAP support.
Currently, you can only use groups to assign roles (which define permissions on the wiki). A reader can only view the contents, while a contributor can also edit.
For now, groups cannot be used to lock pages, but will in the future with Hayes+.

to sum it up,
For Users the following operations can be performed:
1). View Only
2). Block Pages
For a Group we can only perform the following operations:
And of course, you cannot create Groups in Deki
