LDAP timeout

Has anybody had experience of LDAP against AD timing out. the browser just sits there and eventually times out. Pressing login again or closing the browser and starting again generally seems to work.
The problem seems to be very intermittent and there are no error logs on the Server even with extended logging.
Tearing our hair out here, any help gratefully received

Take a look at the API log for exceptions describing these timeouts. Make sure you have a good connection between the mindtouch server and your directory. Is there any packet loss between them? You can try increasing the timeout value but it seems like not the culprit if most queries are executing quickly and only some of them timing out.

Also what OS (with version#) is mindtouch hosted on? Can you paste your ldap service settings here?

try ininstalling Internet Explorer security patches to see what the issue is, I found that Windows XP KB978207-IE7 is giving us issues
