wiki.popular not working

wiki.popular stopped working today. a few weeks ago we noticed that one particular page was missing and today it stopped and does not show any result. special:popularpages works perfect. I updated to VM 9.8.3.17580 yesterday. what does wiki.popular different to special:popularpages?

the problem is i do not know how to reproduce it. the only thing i know is that special:popularpages is working without a problem and wiki.popular not. i think there is a problem with a page title somewhere, can you tell me what select is executed when calling wiki.popular?

Wow, I just saw a related thread (http://forums.developer.mindtouch.com/showthread.php?t=6822) where neilw reported the issue. Oh boy... time to get this addressed!
