Is there a reason that MindTouch is not in the standard fedora/ubuntu repos? I understand there are MT hosted repos, but the instructions I've found at for 7.10 and 8.04. It would be easier for users if it was in the repos.
Is it just that no one has stepped up to be a maintainer or is there some other reason?

AFAIK, nobody has stepped up to maintaining these repos.
Debian (http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-mentors@lists.debian.org/msg58999.html), Ubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/305636) and Fedora (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472098) bugs/threads.
