Thread: Printing same data header & footnote in each printout

Default Printing same data header & footnote in each printout

I found that Wiki is a very good tool for editing some manuals like ISO or working instructions. But there is a problem, the print out of content cannot have same header with document information like Document name and version, and same footnote in every page (A4) print out.

Most of other wiki can edit the template of wiki document. But they only print one header in the 1st page and the footnote in the last page if the wiki document is printout more than 1 pages. What I need is having the header and footnote in EVERY hard copy page. The header and footnote can be edit by manual for each wiki content or auto filled by variable.

I would like to know if Deki Wiki have this function. Thanks.

Which wiki software supports this? Precise control of page controls for printing is (afaik) generally not possible with the web - the browser controls too much of the page layout. Simply put, I am not aware of a way with stylesheets to control headers and footers on every page.

If you know of such a way, please let me know.

That why I am keep looking for. But it is not too hard, because I need the same header for one wiki doc, not different in every page (not including page no.). It is only repeating the same script in each print out. However, I don't know programming so it is only dream talk.

Actually, I am doing similar in words. setting the link instead of wikiwords. Of course it is not good.

Do you think that to adding a wiki mode in OpenOffice is more easiler? Just a dream.

There is a product named Prince that formats documents according to style sheets written in CSS. I've downloaded it but haven't tried it yet.
