How internal Deki's Lucene could index out-of-Deki content?

Isn't it just a URL link? i.e. when results are clicked the browser could just follow the URL link.

I don't believe so, else it would break when your domain changed. You can check using Luke.

Internally we have two subdomains like:

email.domain.com
wiki.domain.com

So it could return just URLs to different sub-domains in the same domain. That way it could work?
