Default Embedding PDFs in a page

    Hi all

I'm wondering what options are available, to allow embedding of (attached) PDF documents directly in a page.

I came across this thread, which uses an iFrame to embed the document which is then rendered by the browser's PDF viewer.

This works - but isn't completely "slick" - there are various tab bars, and other panes open by default in the viewer so there's lots of gubbins around the PDF document. It would be nice to just show the document with minimal navigation tools. I guess since the PDF viewer is something setup individually on user's PCs, there is no way of specifying display options for the viewer ?

Are there any other options for doing this ?
I did briefly look at Scribd - but unfortunately it's a site that's blocked by our corporate IT department, so that's a non-starter. I also got the impression from this page that it's not really being supported anyway (someone correct me if I'm wrong!).

So - are there any other methods of displaying attached PDFs directly in the page, that I haven't thought of ?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Or suggestions on any other formats we could publish in other than PDF, that could be neatly embedded into a Mindtouch page...

If they are public-facing PDF files, Google Docs offers a clean and simple viewer.

Zoho offers to display documents inline

    As well as Scribd
Use the Scribd Reader on your own site
Scribd's API allows you to use the Scribd Reader to embed documents on your own site, even if those documents are not available at Scribd.com. To use the Scribd API this way, you'll upload your documents to our server in "private" mode, and then use the Javascript API to display them.

Couldn't one of the former extensions ThinkFree and Scribd get updated to restore such a useful feature ??

    Thanks
