managing wiki pages(file system or database)

I am a beginner in the handling of wiki and I'd like to know if MindTouch manages
wiki pages with a file system or with database .

Yes page content it's data backend and it's stored on a mysql database.

File system to wiki? Mindtouch has a well designed API from where you can recover all wiki contents, and also Import / Export features.

The Wikimatrix site has fairly up to date info on the features of the leading (and many obscure) wiki-type products. Use the wizard to narrow down the options and save yourself a lot of time. For example you can tell it to give you a list of wiki software that stores pages in the file system.

I may be biased, but hey you're in a MindTouch forum - you should probably be looking at the other features of the software, not just the pages-in-FS, as your most important criteria. Unless there's a "real" reason behind why your boss is looking for this option, my advice would be to figure out what you want the system to do and then find what software does it best.

MindTouch is very very flexible and you'll find it's far superior to the average wiki software, because it does more than that if you want it to - but if you're just looking for a wiki, it's very easy to set up and support, and more importantly it's easy for your users to start using it right away with little or no training.

Go here, click on "MindTouch Core", and download the free open source VM version. With the free VMWare Player you can have it up and running immediately and try it out for yourself! After you like it you can then show a live demo to your boss. WARNING: Checking out MindTouch may make other wiki-type products look crappy and high maintenance.
