Default Insert Templates Dialog in Editor - using subpages

I searched everywhere but could not find out how to use the sub pages option in the Insert Templates Dialog in CKEditor. I am using MT TCS 10.0.0.4 on Debian.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, there is a subpages option, but I cannot figure out how to make it work.

I am starting to have a lot of content templates, so I wish to make it easier for users to select them by category.

I tried organizing the templates in a hierarchical structure, thinking that then the parent template would display and when selected the user would receive a list of the subpages/templates. But not at all!

Perhaps I have totally misunderstood the purpose of the subpages option in the Insert Dialog.

Can someone please explain it? And if there is any way to accomplish what I want?

    Thanks

The subpage display shows you the hierarchy that will be inserted into the page. If you create a root template and then create subpages to that template, when the root page is inserted, the subpages will be created for you automatically.
